Miss Florida Latina & Miss Teen Florida Latina

Nineteen year old Elaine Felix is the titleholder for the Miss Florida Latina pageant. She is of Dominican heritage and lives in Kissimmee, Florida.

Elaine is a molecular and microbiology mayor at the University of Central Florida. She belongs to the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), International Medical Outreach Program, Pre-Professional Medical Society, and is a member of the Cavalry South Orlando Church.

As Miss Florida Latina US, Elaine’s platform is to advise young Latinas not to be afraid to excel in everyday life. “God created each of us in His own special image and we should not shy away from our talents but rather embrace them and strive for the best in their our lives.” Elaine has a talent for science and an ability to help others.  She recently spent time with a pain and rehabilitation Physician in which she not only got to help patients, but learned about different diseases and medical situations.

Miss Florida Latina US 2009 wants to become a Physician in Pediatric Oncology and finds an inspiration in Helen Keller, who strived for her dreams in order to become a Doctor no matter what obstacles she faced. She is proud of her Dominican heritage and the values her parents have instilled in her, such as never giving up on your dreams. Elaine’s honors include becoming an MVP in basketball and volleyball, making the UCF 2008 Dean’s List and being a Salutatorian in High School.

Elaine's pastimes include playing basketball, swimming, and reading, playing the piano and volunteering in different clinical settings. "I would like to thank God for his numerous blessings and never ending love. Through His blessings, He has given me a family who has provided me with wisdom and love throughout the years. I would like to thank them for their support throughout this whole experience.
