Joeliz Velez

Miss Teen Orlando Latina Joeliz Velez from Orlando, Florida was crowned Miss Teen Florida Latina 2010.

Joeliz’s triumphant walk across the stage was just the beginning of a journey that will take her across Florida State during her reign as Miss Teen Florida Latina.  She will travel across Florida State promoting personal self esteem and cultural pride as the official spokesperson for Teen Latinas in Florida.

Along with title of Miss Teen Orlando Latina, Joeliz won the opportunity to represent Florida State and her country of heritage Puerto Rico, at the Miss Teen Latina US.

The Miss Teen Florida Latina and Miss Florida Latina programs are the most prestigious and longest running pageants for Latinas in the US. Our programs are beauty and scholarship oriented on order to showcase the inner & outer beauty and talents of young women of Hispanic ancestry. Our objective is to instill cultural pride, self esteem and leadership qualities among young women.

Our program provides an opportunity for Latinas to advance in their careers and personal goals by learning of their heritage, improving self esteem and networking. Additional information about the Miss Florida Latina Organization can be found at www.missfloridalatina.com

Miss Florida Latina 2010
Jimena Ordonez

Twenty-four year old Jimena Ordoñez is the new titleholder for the Miss Florida Latina pageant. She is of Guatemalan heritage and lives in Miami, Florida.

Jimena is a graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor’s degree and honors in Mass Communications. She belongs to the St. Kevin’s Religious Education Catechist Program where she teaches religious education, is a member of the Young Professionals Branching Out Organization and a reporter for the media outlet Generation “ñ” and Ancla TV.

As Miss Florida Latina, Jimena’s platform is to advise young Latinas to never give up and to keep on trying until you succeed. “As someone starting out in the broadcasting industry, I admire Thomas Edison because not only did he contribute to the Mass Communications field, but never gave up trying to build his inventions.” Jimena exemplifies tenacity, for she competed in countless pageants until finally obtaining the Miss Florida Latina title. “I am thankful to all the people who have believed in me and inspired me to work hard for my goals, as Miss Florida Latina I want to demonstrate to others that with passion you can achieve your goals”.

Although Jimena has had mayor roles in independent films and has hosted her own online show, Miss Florida Latina US 2010 wants to further her broadcasting career to become a television news reporter for the city of Miami and to write a book that will inspire others to reach for the stars.
