Miss Miami Latina Jimena Ordoñez

is chosen as the new Miss Florida Latina

 

 

 

Jimena’s triumphant walk across the stage was just the beginning of a journey that will take her across Florida State during her reign as Miss Florida Latina.  She will travel Florida State promoting personal self esteem and cultural pride as the official spokesperson for Latinas in the state of Florida.

 

Jimena is a graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor’s degree and honors in Mass Communications. She belongs to the St. Kevin’s Religious Education Catechist Program where she teaches religious education, is a member of the Young Professionals Branching Out Organization and a reporter for the media outlet Generation “ñ” and Ancla TV.

 

Along with title of Miss Florida Latina, Jimena won the opportunity to represent Florida State and her country of heritage Guatemala, at the Miss Latina US Pageant to be held this May in the Dominican Republic.

Miss Teen Orlando Latina Joeliz Velez from Orlando, Florida was crowned Miss Teen Florida Latina 2010.

 

 Joeliz’s triumphant walk across the stage was just the beginning of a journey that will take her across Florida State during her reign as Miss Teen Florida Latina.  She will travel across Florida State promoting personal self esteem and cultural pride as the official spokesperson for Teen Latinas in Florida.

 

Joeliz is an 8th grade student at the Osceola County School for the Arts. Her scholastic ambition is to earn her High School Diploma and study Veterinary Medicine. Along with title of Miss Teen Orlando Latina, Joeliz won the opportunity to represent Florida State and her country of heritage Puerto Rico, at the Miss Teen Latina US.

 

The Miss Teen Florida Latina and Miss Florida Latina programs are the most prestigious and longest running pageants for Latinas in the US. Our programs are beauty and scholarship oriented on order to showcase the inner & outer beauty and talents of young women of Hispanic ancestry. Miss Teen Florida Latina 2009 to represent IT COSMETICS

Miss Teen Florida Latina 2009, Saydelis Rodriguez has been chosen by the Miss Florida Latina Organization as the official image to represent the prestigious body makeup brand It Cosmetics, the official body makeup of the Miss Florida Latina Organization.


“I am pleased with what is happening in my life. I have an opportunity of growing with the Miss Florida Latina Organization”, explains the beautiful 16 year old resident of Tampa who studies in Leto High School. This young lady of Cuban heritage has taken advantage of everything learned in the academy of Miss Florida Latina not only to obtain the Teen crown of the organization in 2009, but also the title of Miss Leto High School 2009.

Miss Florida Latina Contestants Get Healthy Perspectives from McDonald’s

Orlando, FL (September 15, 2009)

During Pageant Weekend, some of the most intelligent, beautiful and talented Latina women in Florida gathered together for lunch and a special talk at McDonald’s.

 

This was the second year that McDonald’s opened up their restaurants and their hearts to host this wonderful event. Mr. Guillermo Davila, marketing Coordinator for the Orlando area spoke to the contestants from his marketing perspective how to make the most out of pageantry and the importance of customer service even at the pageant level. 

 

The event featured many special highlights including different cuisines from the McDonald’s healthy menu, which featured salads with grilled chicken and chicken sandwiches on whole-wheat bread.  Customers enjoyed meeting some of the Central Florida Miss Florida Latina and Miss Teen Florida Latina 2010 contestants, several of whom had their pictures taken with customers.

The evening was topped off with a pageant rehearsal.

Miss Florida Latina 2010 Delegates audition for

Telemundo’s program

Descontrol

 

 

Contestants to the title of Miss Florida Latina 2010 participated last Friday with total success, in the casting for dancers and models organized by the casting directors of Descontrol. Descontrol is an hour long music show transmitted nation-wide on Telemundo, it mixes traditional Mexican music with today's urban sounds, does a weekly music video countdown, and features top music performers each week.

 

The attractive Miss Florida Latina contestants casted for the show, while showcasing their skills of ‘how to handle a casting call’ acquired through the training seminars provided by the Miss Florida Latina Pageant and Giabella Salon Pageantry Coaching and Consulting Services.Congratulations to  the Miss Florida Latina delegates who were chosen to appear on the Descontrol stage with the performers.

Miami,  -- Contestants to the title of Miss Florida Latina 2010 participated last Wednesday with total success, in the casting for models and singers organized by Univision's longest running variety program Sabado Gigante. The attractive Miss Florida Latina contestants showcased their skills of ‘how to handle a casting call’ and runway techniques acquired through the training seminars provided by the Miss Florida Latina Pageant and Giabella Salon Pageantry Coaching and Consulting Services. The delegates who are from the area of south Florida are delighted that the pageant provided them with the opportunity to audition for this casting call and to meet the shows producers. Congratulations to the Miss Florida Latina delegates was chosen as a model for the popular TV Show.

 


Contestant for Miss Florida Latina Continues Her Dreams Despite American Idol Mishap

 

Orlando, February 6, 2009 -- Julissa Veloz, 20 a contestant for the 2009 Miss Florida Latina Pageant continued her audition on

 

American Idol as the group rounds began. 107 contestants competed in the group rounds. 75 survived.

 

Julissa Veloz took the stage along with other American Idol hopefuls in a rendition of “Get Ready.” Unfortunately Julissa was eliminated afterwards. “Thanks to everyone who has supported me through these trying weeks! You guys are freaking amazing. I can honestly say that if you have a dream to be a singer, writer, actor, or an accountant, follow it. Who says you can't?... So sing loud, sing proud...” Julissa will continue her dreams of becoming a singer, with an album coming out soon produced by one of Florida's top music producers.

Contestant for Miss Florida Latina Makes it to Hollywood

 

Orlando, January 28, 2009  -- Julissa Veloz, 20 a contestant for the 2009 Miss Florida Latina Pageant auditioned for American Idol and made it pass Simon, Paula, Randy and Kara to go to Hollywood. This was no easy feat, an astonishing number of 12,000 aspiring singers came to audition for American Idol, it was a literal cattle call. Julissa was one of the lucky 16 out of 12,000 aspiring singers that were put through to Hollywood. Her audition in Jacksonville can be seen on all over the web as well as articles written about her audition. She became an instant mini-celebrity web sensation since Paula Abdul walked out of her audition and Julissa brought her back.

 

Julissa states "The Miss Florida Latina Pageant prepared me for American Idol, the workshops guided me to become a more poised confident individual, but still sticking to my light-hearted nature."

Florida Latinas Showcase Their Beauty and Brains During Miss Latina US and Miss Teen US Latina Pageants

Florida Latina will compete with Twenty-eight  Latinas from around the United States for the  crown of Miss Latina US and Miss Teen US Latina during the 2009 National Pageant Finals taking place in San Antonio for the first time. Representing Florida State, our state pageant delegates will arrive Friday, September 26 for preliminary competitions and activities, culminating on Sunday, September 28 with their presentations in national heritage dress, swimsuit, fashion wear and evening gown at the Jo Long Theater for the Performing Arts.

 

Orlando, FL September 23, 2008 – Miss Florida Latina 2008, Samaria Martinez and Miss Florida Teen Latina, Saydelis Rodriguez, will compete against 28 Latinas from all over the US for scholarship money, prizes and the chance of a lifetime to be crowned Miss Latina US and Miss Teen US Latina during the 2009 Miss Latina US Pageant from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Jo Long Theatre for the Performing Arts, 226 N. Hackberry.

 

Miss Latina US is the first national competition established in the country in 1983 exclusively for Latinas. It continues to be the only one whose winner advances to a world competition - the Miss Latin America of the World pageant hosted annually in different Latin American countries.

Among the nineteen women, ages 18 to 27, which will compete in the Miss Latina US Pageant, Florida’s own Samaria Martinez, who is 19 years of age, of Cuban heritage and a business student at Miami Dade University, will compete this year. Meanwhile, in the Miss Teen US Latina Pageant, among the 11 teenagers, ages 14 to 17, will participate, Florida’s representative is 16 year old Saydelis Rodriguez who is also of Cuban heritage, and a Criminal Justice and Law student at Leto High School whose hobbies include Flamenco Dancing, Color Guard, learning French and Sign Language.

 

The titleholder of the Miss Latina US pageant will represent the United States on a global stage in the Miss Latin America of the World pageant. "These pageants are a great way to celebrate the beauty, intelligence, culture, achievements and contributions that Latinos have made to the United States," said Florida’s director a former beauty queen and practicing attorney in Puerto Rico, Giancarla Sambo.
